Jerry Leon Owens, Sr., 74, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, in Humble.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with interment following at Palms Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Jerry was born April 3, 1943 in Oklahoma, to parents; Emro M. and Elva M. Bernard Owens, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton for the past 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton, a retired operator from Bayer, and a former self-employed technician. He also enjoyed bow hunting, gardening, and camping.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: J. R. Owens and Bill Owens, sister: Frances Gillett, and granddaughter: Marissa Manning. He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Catherine “Cathy” Erne Owens of Dayton, sons: Jerry L. Owens, Jr. and wife Cindy of Dayton, Michael Owens and wife Connie of Huffman, and Joshua Owens of Dayton, daughter: Belinda Manning and husband Scott of Houston, sister: Norma Jean Smith of Livingston, grandchildren: Rebekah Billings, Deborah Edwin, Josiah Owens, Austin Manning, Mandy Manning, and Kayla Owens, great-granddaughters: Audrey and Ava Billings, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
