Jerry Lane Mcdaniel, Sr.

Jerry Lane McDaniel, Sr., was born September 23, 1945 in Columbus, Mississippi, to parents, Dennis and Sue McDaniel.

Service for Mr. McDaniel will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday June 18, 2019 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with Brother Jeff Day Officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday June 17, 2019 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church.

Mr. McDaniel lived in Sulligent, Alabama until his graduation from high school. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, there. Shortly thereafter they moved to Houston, and Jerry became a Houston Firefighter. Mr. McDaniel entered service of the fire department December 6, 1965 and served until May 16, 2002, retiring with 36 years, 5 months and 10 days of logged service, having attained the rank of Senior Captain. Jerry loved his church family at Kenefick Southern Baptist and humbly served as a deacon. He enjoyed mowing the church yard and many other yards, as well. Jerry loved Alabama football, Roll Tide! He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making people laugh. He especially loved spending time with the love of his life, Carolyn, as well as his children, grandchildren, and great grandbaby. He loved them all with an undying, unconditional love.

Mr. McDaniel is preceded in death by his father, Dennis McDaniel and father, Hal Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Carolyn McDaniel; mother, Sue McDaniel Brown, son, Lane McDaniel and Shawn; daughter, Terry Meligan and husband, Michael; grandson, Nicholas Wilson and wife, Summer; granddaughter, Kasey Glynn Wilson; great-granddaughter, Annie Faye Wilson; grandson, Damion Maguire; brothers, Dennis McDaniel and wife, Karan and Revis McDaniel and wife, Mitzi; sisters, Nima Bailey and husband, Matt, Winnie Faye Harbor, Melinda Vaughn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, family and friends. Special friend and brother, Jeff Day.
