Jeff E. Maxwell, Sr., 86, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Calvary Baptist Church of Dayton with services concluding thereafter. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Jeff was born November 16, 1930 in Houston, to parents; James F. and Maggie M. White Maxwell, a former resident of Houston, and a resident of Dayton since 1967. He was a graduate of Cypress-Fairbanks High School, had attended Blinn College and Sam Houston State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former Ag advisor for Channelview ISD. Mr. Maxwell also enjoyed raising exhibition poultry and horticulture.
Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children: Alva Ann Walker Maxwell, stepson: Michael Cooper, and brothers: Byron Lee Maxwell, Jimmie Allen Maxwell, and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 18 years: Joyce Dickens Maxwell of Dayton, son: Jeff E. Maxwell, Jr. and wife Jo-Ann of Houston, daughters: Betty Krueger and husband Karl of San Antonio and Mary Maxwell of California, stepson: James Cooper and wife Beverly, Dean Cooper, and Jeffrey Cooper, grandchildren: Madelyn Nicole Maxwell, Marissa Ann Maxwell, Matthew Hale Krueger, Alyssa Delaney Krueger, Sara Avery Krueger, Ryan Alec Cortes, and Hannah Olivia Cortes, step grandchild: Gordon Cooper, and one step great-granddaughter: Claire Aubrey Cooper, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
