Jeanie Mae Bailey Lane was born on November 22, 1932, in Forest Hill, Louisiana. She departed this life peacefully at home on December 21, 2023. She was 91 years old.
Jeanie was a beloved and loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She was blessed with Five Grand Children and one Great-Grand Child, and she loved when they came to visit. She was always ready to help her family and friends.
Jeanie grew up playing sports all through school. Her favorite sport was softball. She played 3rd base helping her team win many medals. After graduation from Forest Hill High School in 1951, she moved to Houston, Texas. She attended IBM Keypunch school and went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad. She retired from Southern Pacific after 30+ years of service.
Jeanie had a passion for sewing, a skill she acquired in high school and continued throughout her life making clothing for herself and others. After retirement, she began quilting. Many friends and family members will treasure these items she pieced and hand quilted herself.
Jeanie was a beloved Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling to Louisiana for the Bailey family fish fry in the Spring and Christmas party in December.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents William Alfred Bailey and Lela Augusta Melder Bailey. Brothers Kenneth Bailey, L.C. Bailey, and twin Brothers Frank Bailey and Croker Bailey. Sisters Gertrude Sweeney, Leoda Mondrick, Thelma Shesler, and Louise McFarland.
She is survived by her daughter Venita Feusse and husband Russell, son Scott Lane and wife Rhonda. Five Grandchildren Micah Feusse, Kristin Feusse, Bailey Lane, Kelsey Riggs and husband Jacob, and Sydney Lane. One Great-Granddaughter, Evie Mae Riggs, and a Great-Grandson, Hudson Aaron Riggs arriving soon.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2023 at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.
