Jay Berka, 54, of Liberty, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Dugat Family Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Jay was born October 29, 1958 in Caldwell, to parents; Quincy A. Berka and Ruthie Jo Roundtree, a former resident of Caldwell and has resided in Liberty for the past two years. He was a graduate of the Caldwell High School class 1977, an auto technician by trade, and enjoyed playing the bass, motorcycles, and building RC model airplanes. Mr. Berka was preceded in death by his mother: Ruthie Jo Roundtree Dugat, stepfather: Mike Dugat, sister-in-law: Betty Berka, niece: Mysti Berka, and nephew: J. J. Bishop. He is survived by his wife: Kim Pritchett Berka of Liberty, sons: Nick Hoffman of Bryan, Justin Berka-Hoffman of Bryan, Josh Hoffman of Bryan, and Blake Berka of Daisetta, daughter: Ashtyn Berka of Daisetta, stepsons: Kenny Pritchett and wife Brittany of Liberty and Wesley Pritchett and wife Tabitha of Liberty, stepdaughter: Shaunna St. Clair and husband James of Liberty, stepchildren: Chandra, Andy, Tabitha, and Breann, father: Quincy A. Berka of Caldwell, brothers: Donald Berka and Paula Orton of Caldwell and Wyatt Berka of Houston, sisters: Karen Mills and husband Calvin of Baytown and Dianna Williams of Dayton, grandchildren: Parker, Jacob, and Lana Hoffman, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
