Janet T. "Jan" Cheselka

Janet T. “Jan” Mehling Cheselka, 70, of Liberty, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at her residence. There will be a gathering for family and friends at Jan’s residence at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Jan was born March 12, 1941 in Duluth, MN, was a former resident of Mt. Belvieu, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 37 years. She held a bachelor’s degree in psychology, studied criminal justice, was a former police officer in Florida, former volunteer for T.V.E. and member of the Moss Bluff VFD, and a retired security guard from Bayer Chemical. She also enjoyed horses, trail rides, flea markets, and playing dominoes and cards. Mrs. Cheselka was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years: Ernie Cheselka, son: Jerry Lee Cheselka, and mother: Mary Eleanor Courtney. She is survived by her sons: Jason Willis of Liberty, David Willis of FL, and Jeff Willis of FL, daughter: Debbie Willis of FL, stepfather: Joe Poncarelli of FL, brothers: Terry Miller of Pasadena and John Courtney, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
