James Woodrow Walker, Sr.

James Woodrow Walker, Sr. (Jimmy) 72 of Dayton, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior September 5, 2017. His family was beside him as he left this world. He was born March 19, 1945 in Hillsboro, Texas to Woodrow Wilson Walker and Ida Ray Jennings Walker.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Jimmy was a truck driver for over 25 years. He loved helping people, gardening, being outdoors, fishing, watching NASCAR and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, loving wife Catherine Elizabeth Walker, and his brother Michael Dean Walker.

He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Walker and wife Margie of Whitney, Texas, and Donnie Ray Walker of Rusk, Texas; son, James Woodrow Walker, Jr. and wife Linda of McDade, Texas; daughter Michelle Gleason and husband Billy of Dayton, Texas; son Scott Walker of Dayton, Texas; granddaughters, Jessica McCartney and husband Bryan of Zachary Louisiana, and Tiffany Hastings and husband Bradley of Gloster, Mississippi; grandson, Bradlee Trevino of Liberty, Mississippi; granddaughters, Melanie White of Dayton, Texas, Kassidy Gleason of Baytown, Texas, Bailee Gleason of Baytown, Texas, Savannah Gleason of Dayton, Texas, G-Pup Luciee; granddaughter Kyndall Mentzer of Houston, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren; 32 nieces and nephews; 44 great-nieces and nephews; and his huge awesome church family from Tarkington River Fellowship.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
