James William Johnson

James William “Billy” Johnson, 75, of Liberty died Saturday, September 7, 2013 in Baytown. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Concord Cemetery in Rye. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Billy was born February 15, 1938 in Houston, Texas to parents Conner Johnson and Ida Mooney Johnson. He had lived in the Liberty area for the past 15 years after moving from Hankamer and had worked for Apex Towing as a tugboat captain before retiring. Billy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed the Rockets, the Texans and loved being with his family. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children Betty Johnson, sisters Bobby Towns, Francis Cooper, Maureen Green, Mary Helen Roberts, and brothers Elmer Johnson, Lynn Johnson, and Earnest Johnson. He is survived by his daughters: Alesia Hardy and husband Marvin of Channelview; Autumn Garcia and husband Rudy of Pasadena, Venissa Stanfield & husband Robert of New Caney, his grandchildren: James M. Johnson and Jake Hardy; his grandchildren: Danielle and Makayla Hardy, David, Joshua, Kimberly, Chapley, Clifton, Amanda, Andrew; his sister: Jane Mefferd of Cleveland; Special family members Virgil and Shirley Mefford and Laurie Long, also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
