James "Ricky" Brown

June 22, 1954 — August 26, 2018

Ricky Brown, age 64 of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born June 22, 1954 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to parents James Leslie and Georgia Leigh Clark Brown who have preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Faye Brown; son, James Ricky “Bo” Brown, Jr.; daughter, Amber Leigh Gaskins; brothers, Ronnie Lee Brown, Robert Brown and wife Terry, Roger Brown; sisters, Connie Leman and husband Kevin, Chris Smith and husband David, Cheryl Brown Bailey and husband Chuck; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends; and his dog, Buddy.

I have three brothers and three sisters and the only one, ever, that I have been close to was Wick. From my earliest memories he was there. When I visited the family in San Antonio right before I went to Vietnam (1970) the only real memory I have is talking with Wick. (I call him Wick cause at one time he had a lisp from being run over by a bicycle in Germany). I remember going to visit him with my first wife when he was in the army at Fort Ord and I was going to college in Santa Cruz, California. He had the hots for my wife's sister, ha. In 1974 I toured America in a Datsun pickup and visited Wick when he was stationed at Fort Hood near Killeen. The whole time he was in Austin I visited him a lot. Bo and Amber were very young. Then he moved out here before I did. I remember driving away in my 1973 Dodge Dart with those concrete heavy things on the roof and a shock absorber fell off due to the weight. I remember passing out on the bed of my 1996 Ford Ranger pickup in your yard. I have a lot of memories of Wickie. A lot of bad ones that could never be settled but a hell of a lot of good ones that I will always cherish. I am getting tear jerky now so I will just say I always loved the dude and always will.
