James Hollis

James Edward Hollis was born in Houston, Texas on April 2, 1953. He passed away March 25, 2025 in Splendora, Texas at the age of 71 years. James graduated from Tarkington High School and he was very proud to serve our country in the United States Marine Corps. James was known to be a prankster, he enjoyed teasing and playing tricks on his family and friends. He always spoke his mind and you knew exactly where he stood on things. In his younger years, James was a pool hustler and always thought of himself as a handsome man. James was a machinist in the oilfield industry for many years. He loved family gatherings, and would always be there if you ever needed him. He had many friends that he would come in contact with throughout the week at the local bar in New Caney. James will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him and loved him.

James is preceded in death by his father, Chester Hollis; mother Katie Scallons Marmon and his sister, Katie “Marie” Gilmore. He is survived by his daughters, Amy Hollis and husband Juan Arizpe, and Kayla Forrester; grandchildren, Toby Rasberry, Jobe Rasberry, Courtney Forrester, Carley Forrester, and A.J. Forrester; brother, Doyle Wayne Hollis and wife Debbie; sisters, Peggy Sweeten and husband Mack, Donna Birdsong and husband Richard, and Julia Ann Marmon; brother in law, Roger Gilmore; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
