James Edward Crouthers, Jr.

James Edward Crouthers, Jr., 62, of Liberty, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Wilderness Church of God at 1238 CR 158, Liberty, Texas, with burial following at the Wilderness Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

James was born September 18, 1953 in Liberty, to parents; James E., Sr. and Naomi Nugent Crouthers, and has been a lifelong resident of Liberty. He was a graduate of the Liberty High School class of 1973. His work experience included oilfield and heavy equipment operation with Brown and Root, delivery driver for Klemp, and Liberty County Precinct 1 Road and Bridge Department. James also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building model airplanes.

Mr. Crouthers was preceded in death by his father: James E. Crouthers, Sr. and brother: David Earl Crouthers, Sr. He is survived by his mother: Naomi Nugent Crouthers of Liberty, wife of 27 years: Priscilla Johnson Crouthers of Liberty, son: James E. Crouthers and wife Regina of Liberty, daughter: Cristina Naomi Wall and husband Justin of Kingwood, stepsons: Jeff Connell of North Carolina and Brad Conwell of North Carolina, brothers: Columbus “Buster” Crouthers and wife Viola of Arkansas and Daymon Crouthers and wife Penny of Liberty, sisters: Evelyn “Sudie” Satterwhite and husband Ben of Liberty, Jenny Abel and husband Sim “Hobo” of Liberty, and Lillie Tinney and husband Frank of Liberty, in-laws: Becky Adkins, Steve Johnson, Ginger Fritts, and Jane Denney all of Indiana, and numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
