James Charlie Tolar, 86, of Daisetta died Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Pasadena. He was born February 14, 1924 in Corrigan, Texas to parents Robert McGee Tolar and Minnie Lea Armstrong. He graduated in 1947 from Plummerville High School and was a long time resident of Corrigan before moving to Daisetta. He served during World War II in the United States Army, worked for many years as a log yard supervisor for Champion Paper, was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the VFW.
Services for Mr. Tolar will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jerimey Flowers, Jim Tolar, Devyn Hill, Dennis Hill, Everitt Hill, LeRoy Cartwright, Joe Risenhoover, and Ronnie Risenhoover. Honorary pallbearers are Seth Hill, Kasidy Hill, Hannah Flowers, Kayden Flowers, Layla Tolar and Harley Tolar.
Mr. Tolar was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Ruby Katherine Flowers, and his son-in-law Melvin Flowers. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Tolar of Daisetta; daughters, Betty Flowers of Daisetta, and Barbara Flowers and husband Richard of Hull; son, James Tolar and wife Charlotte of Lonsdale, Arkansas; grandchildren, Deana Flowers of Daisetta, Melinda Hill and husband Everitt of Hull, Amanda Flowers of Hull, Jerimey Flowers of Hull, Jim Tolar and wife Amanda of Lonsdale, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Devyn Hill, Dennis Hill, Seth Hill, Kasidy Hill, Hannah Flowers, Kayden Flowers, Layla Tolar, and Harley Tolar; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
