J. Barrie Hughes, 89, of Liberty, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Kindred Hospital in Baytown.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Graveside are 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, at the Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Barrie was born December 15, 1926 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to parents William A. and Josephine Thompson Hughes. He was a former resident of Crosby, Texas, and has resided in Liberty since 1970.
He was a graduate of Sand Springs High School, received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tulsa, was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII, a retired accountant for Exxon, and attended First Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Naomi R. Kinard Hughes, and his parents. He is survived by his son: Paul Hughes of Liberty, daughter: Theresa Hughes Williamson of Cleburne, grandchildren: Rachael, Benjamin, and Lydia Williamson, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
