Jack Allen Owens, age 88 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019. He was born February 18, 1931 in Houston, Texas to parents Odis and Bessie Owens who preceded him in death along with his wife of 50 years, Sherry Hill Owens; grandsons, Jeremy Edgar and Richard Owens; brothers, Richard Owens and Perry Owens; and sister, Vivian Hagan.
Jack was a longtime resident of Cleveland, Texas and formerly of Daisetta, Texas. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Cleveland Masonic Lodge, as well as the Cleveland VFW. Jack served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked at the Cleveland Senior Citizens Center. He was a machinist by trade and was naturally mechanically inclined. Jack will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Elnora Owens; son, Billy Owens and wife Teresa; daughters, Teresa Worley and husband Kenneth, and Sharon Edgar and companion James Williams; brother, Wayne Owens and wife Betty; grandchildren, Todd Worley and wife Ann, Jennifer Moran and husband Brian, Erin Worley, and Crystal Quist and husband Wayne; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Gillian Worley, Maddox and Jackson Moran, Iris Roberts, and Sophia and Noah Quist; along with numerous friends, nieces, nephews and relatives.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
