J.D. Farrill, 87, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in Beaumont, Texas, after a long illness. J.D. was born on August 8, 1931 in Rockland, Texas to his parents, Edward and Beulah Conner Farrill.
J.D. is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel Lee Bennett; his son, John David Farrill and wife Samantha Farrill; step-son, Fred Guinn and wife, Pat Guinn; step-daughter, Laura Jean Wahlberg; grandchildren, Stephen and Paige Guinn, Travis and Teri Guinn and Jacob Farrill; six great-grandchildren, Kara Guinn, Hunter Guinn, Claire Guinn, Marin Guinn, Eli Guinn, and Cody Guinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
J.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beulah Farrill; brothers, R.C. (Micky) Farrill and Robert Edward Pearl; sister, Gena Mae Jordan; and half-sister, Ruby Phillips.
J.D. enlisted in the Army and served in Korea from 1950 to 1953. J.D. was a tank driver, which he called the “Terrible Termite”. He married his wife, Hazel, on July 30, 1964 and they lived in North Shore (Houston) for many years.
After a long employment with Anheuser Busch in Houston, he retired in 1990 and moved to Votaw, Texas where he enjoyed the simple life of living in the country. He became active with his church serving as a Deacon at Rainbow Baptist Church and Saratoga Baptist Church. He became an active member in the Dayton Masonic Lodge No. 825 & A.M. and the Eastern Star.
The family would like to thank Serenity Assisted Care, as well as Hospice Plus for their care and concern over the past few months.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon, Monday, June 3, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Saratoga, Texas with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Votaw Cemetery, Votaw, Texas.
