Irma Nell Norcross Whittington

Irma Nell Norcross Whittington, 85, of Liberty passed away on January 2, 2021. Nell was born April 16, 1935 in Dayton, Texas to parents, Milton Frank Norcross and Nellie Julia Wright.

Nell had been a lifelong resident of the Dayton and Liberty area. She attended Dayton schools and graduated from Dayton High School in 1953. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the Dayton Historical Society. She was a former member of the Dayton Garden Club and she enjoyed watching sports on TV. Nell was very proud of her family and enjoyed researching their genealogy. She had worked as a dispatcher before retirement.

Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bowen Herbert Whittington; son Milton Scott Whittington; and brother Carl Truett Norcross. She is survived by her children, Michael Bowen Whittington and wife Theresa, Wendy Kay Whittington and wife Suzanne; grandchildren, Bowen Shane Whittington, Amy Brooke Gonzales and husband Salvador, and Harmony Linda Whittington; great grandchildren, Atticus Shane Whittington and Noah Luke Whittington; niece, Zoe Norcross and nephew, Jay Norcross and wife Zaina Van Loan; numerous other relatives and friends.

Service for Nell will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 at The First United Methodist Church in Dayton, Texas with Rev. Guy Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Linney Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton
