Imagene Dingler Blackburn went to her eternal home on February 23, 2019.
Jean was born January 7, 1929 to Lena and Raymond Dingler in Poyner, Tx. In 1948 she met the love of her life Virgil “Blackie” Blackburn and, after a short courtship, married. A Texas nomad early in her marriage, she soon settled in Liberty County with her two daughters Linda and Jenny. After being a stay at home mom, Jean entered the workforce in the 1960’s. She enjoyed a variety of jobs from fabric store clerk to working at local financial institutions, Liberty County Federal Savings and Loan and Southeastern Savings and Loan. Jean made many an Easter, prom, wedding dress and business suit; loving to sew was not only a passion but a talent. An avid collector of Snow Village, she provided displays for her local community and hours of fun for her great grandchildren. Jean was a faithful member of the Liberty Church of Christ for many years. Sunday school lessons and celebration of her faith filled many a Sunday morning and afternoon for her.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Virgil “Blackie” Blackburn and brothers Durwood Dingler and Louie Dingler and wife Geri Dingler. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Harris (Larry) and Jenny Senter (Bob), grandchildren Laura Harris Ressler (Richard), Leanne Harris Strickland (Jason), Lindsey Scoggins (Avi Levy), Leslie Scoggins Gandy (Rob), Shelby Scoggins, and Clark Senter, great grandchildren Luke and Elizabeth Ressler, Logan and Lanie Strickland, and Sloane and Griffin Gandy, brother Marion Dingler and wife Alice, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers are Jacob Cantu, Rob Gandy, Richard Ressler, Clark Senter, Shannon Smith, Phillip Strickhausen, and Jason Strickland. Honorary pall bearers are the Elders of the Liberty Church of Christ.
Funeral Services were Tuesday, February 25th at the Liberty Church of Christ at 10 am with internment at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakata Club Scholarship Fund, 107 W Young Street, Dayton Texas 77535.
