Idus Truitt Thomson

Idus Truitt Thomson of Coldspring, Tx was born December 24, 1929 in the Boswell community of southeast Walker County. He went to his Heavenly Home resting peacefully at his country home in San Jacinto County on September 16, 2022.

Truitt is preceded in death by an infant son, James Truitt Thomson in 1950, his father Tom Quitman Thomson in 1969, his mother Ellie Maedell Holiday Thomson in 1987, and his brother Preston McRay “Ray” Thomson. Truitt is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lela Belle Williamson Thomson. He is also survived by his two children, daughter Carol Thomson Weatherly, and son Charles Truitt Thomson and daughter-in-law, Emily Denise Johnson Thomson of Denver, Colorado. Truitt has four grandchildren, Richard Lynn Winfrey, Jr. of Houston, TX, Megan Elizabeth Winfrey Holt of Castorville, TX, and Piper Belle Thomson and Daisy Jensen Thomson, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Also surviving Truitt are three Great Grandchildren, Danielle Hammond of The Woodlands, Tx; Addilyn Winfrey of Houston, Tx, and Sarah Holt of Castroville, Tx. Truitt is also survived by his sister-in-law, Kathryn Day Thomson of Huntsville, Tx and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring, Texas.  Services will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Coldspring United Methodist Church in Coldspring, Texas.
