Ida May Porter Orms, age 87 of Denton, Texas, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017. She was born September 8, 1930 in Mont Belvieu, Texas to parents Clarence and Veatrice Henry Porter who she is preceded in death by.
Ida was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always willing to help her family in any way and especially loved spending time with her granddaughters. Ida was an excellent seamstress and after retiring from Barbers Hill Independent School District she took great joy in designing and creating quilts of which her family have all been fortunate to receive.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 66 years James Orms.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Orms; daughters, Penny Orms Cotten and husband Gary, Cindy Orms Young and husband Roy; sisters, Fay Porter Hudgins and husband Virgil, Danna Porter Holman and husband Wally; grandchildren, Traci Sanders and husband Michael, Amanda Chumchal and husband Aaron, Lisa Hues, Heather Godi and husband Josh; great-grandchildren, Tyson Sanders, Rilee and Maddix Hues, Caleb and Landon Chumchal, Garrison and Molly Godi; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Old River Baptist Church, Dayton, Texas. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Old River Baptist Church, Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery, Dayton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Ida’s memory to a charity of your choosing will be gratefully received.
