Ida Mae Boyd Arrendell, 90, of Cleveland was born February 27, 1929 to parents J. C. and Ella Boyd. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13, 2020. Ida was brought up in the New Hope community of San Jacinto County and graduated from Shepherd High School in 1946. She was a salesgirl for the House of Bargains when she met and married Tommy Arrendell on April 29, 1947.
Ida exemplified Proverbs 31 by being a dedicated wife of 68 years, a beloved mother and grandmother, cherished friend and steadfast servant of the Lord. Always ready with a warm hug, kind word and genuine smile, Ida brightened the lives of those around her whether they be 1 or 101 years of age. She was unwavering in her love and service to God, her church, her family and her friends. She was treasured by many and her shining example will live on for generations to come.
Ida, or Mom to her family, was also known for her strong alto voice and musical talent on piano and organ. This was passed on to many in her family and will be her legacy to them. She served as church pianist for First Baptist Church, Plum Grove for decades and oftentimes played for revivals as well. Whenever needed, she was ready to serve. At one time, she was also known as the Avon lady. For many years she delivered products and Christian witness to the Plum Grove and Splendora communities. She was first to open her home to young people and hosted parties on a regular basis, especially when her children were young. In her later years, Ida was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Arrendell, Sr.; Son, Tommy Arrendell, Jr.; Brother, Vernon Boyd; Grandson, William “Billy” Arrendell.
Survivors include: daughters, Brenda Kelso and husband, Jimmy; Barbara Roberts and husband, Mike; sons, Clyde A. Arrendell and wife, Norma, Randal B. Arrendell and wife, Georgia, Kent O. Arrendell and wife Susie, and their families which include 15 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren, 2 Nephews and a host of other family and friends.
