BRISTER
Horton Brister, 89, of Dolen, Texas, died at his home 29 March 2011. He was born 27 December 1921 in Provencal, Louisiana, a son of the late Zerie and Madge Dunaway Brister. He was graduated from Provencal High School in 1938, and began attending Louisiana State University. He joined the U.S. Army in September of 1940, and during World War II served in Europe and North Africa with Company “C” Engineer Combat Battalion. Upon his discharge in June 1945, he began employment with Tennessee Gas Pipeline in Provencal, before being transferred by the company to Cleveland, Texas, where he contained employment until retiring in 1983. He was first married to Hazel Aaron Haltom in 1949. Following her death, he married Dorothy Mae Neal on 9 June 1958 in Liberty County Texas.
Mr. Brister is survived by his widow, Dorothy Mae Neal Brister; a step-daughter, Freddie Jo Haltom Barrett, of Daingerfield, TX; five children: Tena Dolores Minx, wife of Larry Minx, of Dolen, TX; daughter Loretha Alinda Bumbaugh, wife of Scott Bumbaugh of Huntsville TX; son Neal Barrett Brister, husband of Lori Eskew Brister; daughter Laureen Lanette Milazzo, wife of Robert Milazzo of St. Augustie, FL; and Barry Glenn Brister, husband of Tonja Unger Brister; fifteen grandchildren: James Barrett, Julie Barrett, Melissa Dinkins Murillo, Alicia Brister Hallum, Joshua Milazzo, Zachary Bumbaugh, Michelle Milazzo Piatt, Amanda Brister, Nicholas Bumbaugh, Jared Milazzo, Kourtney Chorman, Brittney Chorman, Ethan Brister, Lydia Brister, and Foster Brister, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother Wanel Brister, and a sister, Mozelle Scofield, both living in Louisiana.
