Homer Sylvester Broussard

Homer Broussard was born on December 29, 1935 in Liberty, Texas to proud parents Edward and Carrie Broussard. He received his primary education in Liberty. Homer accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas until his health declined.
God placed the love of his life, Bertha Lee Rubit, to be his help mate and the two became one on June 13, 1955. Over the past 60 years they raised a family together in a loving Godly home. Homer worked vigorously providing for his family with the Rail Road before joining Brown and Root were he retired in 1989.
Homer had a quiet spirit, was a man of few words. As a young man he played baseball and always enjoyed watching sports. He loved to fish and shared his passion teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. Homer loved to travel, taking to the open road sharing the wonder of God’s country making memories with the family.
At 7:30 pm on Friday, May 13, 2016 God called Homer Broussard home to a new life in glory. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Selena Marie Broussard, his granddaughter Daphne Marie Webb, brothers: Melvin, Andrew, Edward, Jr., James, Alvin, Daniel, and Nathan Broussard, and sisters: Juanita Siner and Thelma Broussard.
Homer’s Homegoing Celebration will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 101 Donatto Drive in Ames, Texas. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. the Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 60 years Bertha Lee Broussard, his five children: Dianna Webb and husband Derrick, Rick Broussard and wife Zina, Sherman Broussard, David Broussard and Rhonda Broussard-Holmes. His grandchildren: Christopher Baldwin and wife Tanell, Kellie Broussard-Curley and husband Tim, Austin Webb and wife Neilisha, Adrienne Freeman and husband Johnnie Freeman, Terrance Holmes, Jomesha Joes, DeAndre Broussard, Sophia Holoman, Brandy Holoman and Celeste Bradley, along with his great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
