Helen Chastain Wallen, 92, of Dayton died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in Liberty after an extended illness. She was born April 22, 1921 in Anson, Texas to parents Emmitt and Virgie Overman Chastain. Mrs. Wallen was a retired telephone operator for General Telephone Company in Del Rio and Baytown. She had lived in Dayton since 1967 after moving from Baytown and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star for over 60 years. Graveside service for Mrs. Wallen will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Magnolia Park Cemetery with Brother Mike Blackburn officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday before the service at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Mrs. Wallen was preceded in death by parents Emmitt Chastain and Virgie Graves; husband of 64 years Michael Lloyd Wallen; son: Don Wallen; grandson: Craig Love; and sisters: Lilian Cross and Margaret Foster. She is survived by her son: Mack Wallen and wife Ellen of Dayton; her daughter: Peggy Love of Humble; grandchildren: Donald Wallen and wife Debra, Mark Wallen, Lori Cohoon & husband Kevin, Keith Love, Kevin Love, Wade Wallen and wife Nita and Melissa Wallen; eight great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
