Helen Dorothy “Dot” Alexander began her journey Nov 10, 1942 in Cleveland, Texas to J D and Freida (Williams) Hansbro and passed away on April 7, 2025 in Tarkington Prairie in the home of her daughter, surrounded by the family that she created and loved immensely.
Dot grew up and lived in Tarkington Prairie all of her life, except for most of 2024, when she lived in Jasper until she needed some extra care. She had wonderful memories of growing up with her many cousins. During high school she enjoyed playing basketball. She met John Randolph “Randy” Alexander when he moved to Tarkington from Jasper to live with his sister, Dixie, to work. They began their married life in Oct 1959, enjoying her life as a homemaker together for 53 years until his death in 2013.
Dot was a woman of many talents. She was a wonderful cook and baker even though she rarely measured the ingredients or needed a recipe. Just one look in the cupboard and she knew the four or five course meal that she could put together quickly. She was a seamstress sewing clothes for Rhonda, friends and grand babies, even clothes for their baby dolls. She enjoyed plants, collecting depression glass, fishing, reading, word searches, crossword puzzles, dominoes (42), and watching all sports. She and Randy enjoyed camping on the Angelina River and taking road trips with their siblings to numerous locations across the USA, their favorite being a yearly trip to the mountains of Colorado. In 2010, they took a trip to Singapore, spending a couple of days in Australia and two weeks in an RV around the South Island of New Zealand.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, infant brother, Larry Hansbro, and sister, Linella “Linnie” Steadham, brothers-in-law, L T Alexander, Mickey Parker and Charles Derouen; sister-in-law Juanita Alexander; and nephews, Jonathan Goodwin and Nick Cirillo.
Left behind grieving her absence are her children and their spouses; Rhonda (Glen) Daigle; Mark Alexander, and Clint (Lori) Alexander; and those that called her Gammy; Rusty (Randi) Daigle, Jace (Felicia) Daigle, Zach Alexander, Kendall (Taylor) Alexander, Kaylea Alexander, and Jonathan Alexander; three great grands Tyler (Kelsi) Daigle, Tate Daigle and August Daigle, and a great great grandchild, Taylyn Daigle; as well as her sister, June Parker; in-laws, Bettie (Charlie) Tanner, Karen Derouen, Julie (JB) Goodwin; Alicia Chrismer, Richard Parker, Dawn Cirillo and Judy Frank Steadham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
According to her wishes, there will be a visitation Wed April 9th from 5-8 pm at Pace Stancil Funeral home 300 Crocket St Cleveland, Texas and a graveside service Thurs April 10th at 11am at Homer Cemetery CR 025 Jasper, Texas.
