Harry "Buzz" Eugene Williams

Harry “Buzz” Eugene Williams, 71, of Dayton, passed away August 25, 2021, in Baytown. Buzz was born October 18, 1949, in Akron, Ohio.

Buzz was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp with two tours in Vietnam during combat battle. He was a Corporal (E-4) and after two tours was honorably discharged on June 25, 1975. Buzz’s experience in the Marines played a very important role in his life and his family. Buzz also supported numerous veterans’ groups and was an active member of the Liberty VFW Post 5621. He was a faithful and proud Marine. Bonnie and Cassie were very proud of him as well. Semper Fi! For his service, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Citation, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal.

Buzz was also an active and faithful member of both the Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 48 A.F. and A.M. and Dayton Lodge 825. On July 9, 2009, he was installed as the Worshipful Master at the Liberty Lodge. He had one of the largest installations to date with 90 people in attendance. Buzz’s experiences of being a loyal mason played a very important role in his life. He frequently told his wife and daughter how the masonic lodge saved him, and helped him to be a better person. Being a mason taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, brotherhood, and investing in a cause larger that himself. He was committed and had a lot of trusted brothers.

Buzz enjoyed riding and repairing motorcycles, golfing, playing pool, hunting, fishing, traveling with Bonnie and spending time with his grandchildren.

He loved his family most of all and loved his wife Bonnie with all his heart. He was so proud of his daughter and his beautiful grand babies. Buzz was extremely loved, and will be dearly missed.

Buzz was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Sue (Calhoun) Williams; grandparents, Harry and Alice Marie Robinson; mother, Margie Pugh; brother, Greg Williams; and John Carl “Bubba” Dowdy. He is survived by his only child, Cassandra “Cassie” Williams; his brother, Russell “RD” Williams; his loving granddaughters, Aleena Marie and Adalynn Jade Garcia; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial service for Buzz will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Please leave your thoughts and prayers for Buzz’s family at www.pacestancil.com.
