Harold Waters Turner

Harold Waters Turner, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was born September 8, 1927 in Wilson County, TN at his grandmotherÄ…s home to Albert and Julia Turner. Harold was a man of the utmost integrity. He was a leader in all of his endeavors doing so with such grace and ease. He loved his family, his work and most of all his Lord. Whether you knew him as Daddy, Papa, Uncle Harold, or Mr. Turner, he was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and served his country during the Korean War as a tank commander for the Army. He worked with Western Auto for 55 years, 31 of which were spent in Cleveland, TX where he, alongside with his wife, Lois Turner, owned and operated the store. He loved spending time at the Turner farm in Watertown, TN where he and his brothers spent many hours working in the fields. He was truly dedicated to his family and was most happy when surrounded by them all. He is survived by his wife, with whom he had been married to for 58 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Lynn Gunter and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Julia Gunter, Jonathan Gunter, Joel Gunter, Kandice Weaver and husband Mike, Carrie Kirkham, Deborah Kirkham, and Jennifer Kirkham; great grandchildren, Elijah Kelly Weaver and Ezekiel Turner Weaver; siblings, Gene Turner, Robert Turner, Mary Ann Brown, David Turner, Nelda Queener, and Raymond Turner. He also leaves behind numerous other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Julia Turner, and his daughter, Sandra Kirkham. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 303 E. Crockett St., Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 400 W. Hanson, Cleveland, Texas In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Cleveland for missions at 400 W. Hanson Cleveland, TX 77327.
