Gwinn Dale Votaw, 70, of Dayton passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Liberty after an extended illness. Gwinn was born September 29, 1943 in Liberty, Texas to parents Thorpe and Hazel Ashworth Votaw. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, graduating from Dayton High School in 1962 where he was well known for his participation in football and basketball. He was a member of the 1961-62 Dayton Bronchos State Finalist football team. Gwinn served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, birds and his dogs. Graveside services for Gwinn will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at French Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Gwinn was preceded in death by his father, Thorpe Votaw; his mother, Hazel Ashworth Hollerbach, brother, Ray Votaw, and sister, Pam Votaw. He is survived by his brother, Clyde Votaw; his sister-in-law, Dora Votaw; nieces and nephews, Mike, Sandy, and Candace; numerous other relatives and friends.
