Gwendolyn Bullion Harrison, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, in Dayton, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on September 20, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Gwen was a cherished member of her community who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.
Gwen was the daughter of Clovis Bullion and Ruby Boudreaux Bullion. She spent her early years in Port Arthur before moving to Victoria, Texas, and ultimately settling in Dayton, where she lived for the past 43 years. A proud graduate of Bishop Byrne High School in 1962, Gwen pursued a career in cosmetology and worked as a hairdresser before dedicating herself to her family.
During her children’s formative years, Gwen was a devoted stay-at-home mom, shaping their lives with love and care. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her 15-year service as Church Secretary at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dayton, where she also actively participated in various church activities.
Gwen’s warmth and generosity were hallmarks of her personality. She was known for her selflessness, always putting others before herself and ensuring her family had the opportunity to build strong connections with their extended relatives. Her culinary talents were renowned, especially her gumbo and etouffee'. Her personal favorite dish was boiled crawfish. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, including watching classic television shows like "I Love Lucy" and "Andy Griffith" and traveling with her late husband of 60 years, Michael Harrison.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Harrison, her brother Don Bullion, and her grandson Dustin Harrison. She is survived by her son Lance Harrison and his wife Amanda, her daughter Lisa Harrison, and her beloved grandson Lane Harrison.
A visitation and rosary will be held in her honor from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Father Peter Nguyen leading the service. Gwen’s pallbearers will be Rodney Crocker, D.R. Petty, David Berg, Taylor Berg, Lance Harrison, and Lane Harrison.
Gwen will be remembered for her loving spirit, unwavering faith, and the profound impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
