Granville Marion Shanks

Granville M. “Buddy” Shanks, 86, of Winnsboro, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Winnsboro.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Granville was born June 14, 1929, in Dayton, to parents; Richard E. and Thelma Lee Fingleman Shanks, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Winnsboro for the past five years. He was a graduate of Dayton High School, a retired truck driver, and a rancher. He also enjoyed working cattle, fishing, and traveling.

Mr. Shanks was preceded in death by his parents and sons: Richard E. Shanks and Francis M. Shanks. He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Margaret Bozeman Shanks of Winnsboro, sister: Katherine Martin of Dayton, grandchildren: Richard Shanks, Ernest Shanks, Granville D. Shanks, and Kimberly A. Shanks, great-grandson: Travis W. Shanks, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
