Gertrude “Trudy” Brown, 72, of Dayton, Passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born March 1, 1947, in Houston, to her late parents, Frank Lucero and Elsiemae Quinn Lucero.
Trudy lived most of her life in Dayton and had previously lived in Houston, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee. She was a 1965 graduate of Dayton High school, where she was a twirler in the band. During her time in Nashville, she was a country music singer and even appeared at the Grand Ole Opry.
She had many talents that included singing and race car driving. Trudy was the retired owner/operator of Trudy’s Unisex Hair Designs, was formerly a Deputy Constable under Lester Lewis for Liberty County Precinct #4 and briefly worked for the railroad.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodney Brown; brother, Frank R. Lucero and a sister, Angela Hayes.
Survivors include her son, Jason Peterson; grandchildren, Alyssa and Ryan Peterson; sisters, Maria Hanel and her husband Leroy, Lee Halasah and her husband Nick and Christina Lucero and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2019 At Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating,
