George “Poppy†William Radney, age 91 and a resident of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. He was born in Doole, Texas in 1921 to parents Samuel Lee and Noma Carol Radney who preceded him in death along with two brothers and two sisters. He was a Chemical Engineer in the Oil Industry by trade. Mr. Radney was a distinguished Veteran of the United States Army, he served in WWII from 1940-1945 in New Guinea, New Britian, Leyte Campaigns, and Philippine Liberation Campaign. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and steadfast friend; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia Sides Radney; daughters Carrie Dailey and husband Greg, and Lettie Albritton; two grandchildren Erin Templeton and husband Ryan, Kinsey Angele and husband Sean; three great-grandchildren Quinn and Carsen Templeton, and Cooper Angele; his loving companions “Cheyenne†and “Bam Bamâ€; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family members and faithful friends throughout the years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Rev. Gary Wilkins will preside over funeral services held Wednesday, May 15, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with interment following at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Coldspring. Pallbearers include Greg Dailey, Ken Martin, Jim Hosea, Bill Paquette, and Mike Welman.
