George Curtis “Pete” Harvill, age 61, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Conroe, Texas, after a long battle with brain tumors.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Wilburn Ansley will preside over funeral services being held Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Chapel. Everyone will dismiss and meet for graveside services at 2:00 p.m. Baker Bell Cemetery in Fred, Texas.
He was born January 23, 1950 in Silsbee, Texas. He was a Vietnam war veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. George was a former resident of Cleveland and 1968 graduate of Cleveland High School. He worked at the Ford Dealership in Houston and Spring for many years; then went on to work almost 9 years at the Conroe Wal-Mart. George was a very joyful person and had a passion for photography. His most loved role in life was spending time with his family and friends and always had his camera handy. After his long struggle with brain tumors, George was blessed with a peaceful end. His family and friends will always remember him lovingly.
Survivors include his parents, Myers Harvill and Essie Phillips Harvill; daughters, Lesley, Michelle and Kimberley; sons, Mathew and Joey; brother, Chester Harvill and wife, Cathleen; sister, Debbie Cecil and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Anna and Tristan; nieces, Amy Curlee and husband, Shelby, Lindsey Harvill, Brooke Hesson and husband, Anthony, Emily Cecil; and many treasure friends.
