George Odie Thibodeaux

October 19, 1937 — January 12, 2014

George Odie Thibodeaux, 76, of Liberty, went home to meet Jesus on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care, in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Cornerstone Church in Liberty with burial following at the Cooke Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Cornerstone Church in Liberty. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. George was born October 19, 1937 in Liberty, to parents; Lodis and Ida Belle Blanchard Thibodeaux, a former resident of Raywood, and has resided in Liberty for six years. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a retired security guard for Varco Security, a member of Cornerstone Church, former rigger for Parker Wells and a furnace/crane operator for National Pipe and Tube. He also enjoyed reading his bible, barbecuing, telling jokes, working in his shed, auto racing, going to movies with his loved ones and most of LOVED TO EAT CRAWFISH. Mr. Thibodeaux was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Bobby Lee and Donald Thibodeaux. He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Madeline Benoit Thibodeaux of Liberty, daughters: Lorie Ann Buchanan and husband Bobby of Tarkington Prairie, Angela Marie Doucet and husband Scott of McKinney, Estella Helen "Ellie" Thibodeaux of Liberty, and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzy" Walls and husband Roy, Jr. of Tyler, son: George Albert Thibodeaux and wife Cathy of Liberty, sister: Barbara Jean Fondon of Rayne, LA, grandchildren: Krista M. Rhodes, Charles W. “Trey” Braddock, Nastasya N. “Toddie” Arnold, Brittney N. Thibodeaux, Ariel B. Thibodeaux, Emily G. Thibodeaux, Christopher M. Thibodeaux, Jeffery Wayne Walls, Edward Allen Walls, B.J. Buchanan, Destiny Montabalo, Amy Buchanan, Kara Fregia, and Ryan Fregia, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donation be made to the Cornerstone Church Youth at 1693 HWY 146 Bypass, Liberty, TX 77575.
