George Melvin Crocker, 82, of Dayton died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Cleveland after a brief illness. He was born August 16, 1929 in Dayton, Texas to parents Leslie E. and Carrie Carter Crocker. He was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and had worked as a boilermaker and logger. George loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all telling tall tales. He attended Simmons Bottom Assembly of God Church.

Services for Mr. Crocker will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lyndol Kinser officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 42 years: Ruth L. Crocker, all of his brothers, sister, and great grandson, James Allen Holder. He is survived by his wife Frances Green Crocker of Dayton, his son, Melvin Crocker and wife Karen, his daughter, Patsy Dubose and husband Glenn, his sons, Donald Crocker, Tracy Crocker and wife Susan, William Crocker and wife Renatta, two step-sons, James Green and wife Daisy, and John Green and wife Jennine, ten grandchildren, Julie, Bradley, Keri, Leslie, Jerrod, Daniel, Devin, Tyler, Jessica, and Crystal, two great grandchildren, also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
