George J. Rollins

George Jefferson Rollins, 95, of Tarkington Prairie, TX, passed away on December 10, 2020 with his family.

George was born on October 18, 1925 to Georgia Ella Slater Rollins and Thomas Jefferson Rollins in Gladstell, TX. At the age of 18, George joined the Army and became a decorated war veteran serving in Northern France and Rhineland during World War II. Upon his return he worked as an industrial superintendent in the chemical plants for most of his life.

In 1949 he married Ovie Vandver, and they went on to have 4 children, Jimmy, Larry, JoAnn, and Reta. George and Ovie were married for 64 years. They both loved spending time with their children and numerous grandchildren.

When he was not working, George had a passion for hunting and fishing. He attended church regularly at Plum Grove Baptist Church for many years. In his last years, he attended Prairie Baptist Church in Tarkington.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ovie Rollins along with his granddaughter Amy Michelle Brown, and great-grandsons Ty Dwayne Wilburn and Cain William Mosley. He was the 12th child in the family and all 5 sisters and 6 brothers passed before him.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters. He is loved by many surviving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2020 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Wells Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2020 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Wells Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
