George Henry Leutert, 64, of Shepherd died August 27, 2017.

Service for Mr. Leutert will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland.

George was born May 4, 1953 in Stanford, Connecticut to parents, Werner and Margrit Leutert. He proudly served 10 years in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. George had worked in sales in the food industry. He was a former resident of Houston and had lived in Shepherd for the past 24 years. George loved fishing and being with his grandchildren. He was a very caring person and was always helpful to others. He loved animals, always feeding the birds and hummingbirds. George had been a cancer patient since 1994 but was cancer free when he passed.

As a young child, George lived in Aberdeen, Maryland. About 1955, the Leutert family moved to California and resided in the following areas: Corte Madera, Los Altos and La Cañada. They moved to Stanford, Connecticut in 1959 and George graduated from Rippowam High School in Stanford in 1971.

George joined the U.S. Navy in 1972 and became an Air Traffic Controller, specializing in front line fighter aircraft control with Tactical Air Traffic Control Squadron 1. He was stationed in Vietnam from November, 1971 to August, 1974 and returned in 1975.
George served in the Philippines and Florida until discharged as a First Class Petty Officer in 1982. After discharge, George lived in Houston, Texas for 13 years before moving to Shepherd, Texas. George worked in food sales until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father. George leaves behind to cherish his memories, his mother, Margrit Leutert; his sons, Eduard Pinoon and wife Deborah and Walter Leutert and wife Nickie; brothers, Werner and Paul Leutert; sisters, Margrit Leutert and Barb Pierce; grandchildren, Cailin, Zander, and Ava; his best friend, R.J. Joseph; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
