George H. Henscey, 84, of Dayton, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Dayton with burial following at the Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. George was born September 20, 1928 in Mt. Belvieu, to parents; Felix A. and Grace Rucker Henscey, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton for the past 48 years. He was a graduate of the Barbers Hill High School class of 1947, attended Lee College, member of the First United Methodist Church in Dayton. His work experience included being a former employee of Diamond Alkali, N.A.S.A during the Apollo missions, helped build and worked on the Alaskan pipeline, and in the oil fields of Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed his work, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family. Mr. Henscey was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Janie Lewis Henscey of Dayton, children: Michael Henscey of San Francisco, CA, Pat Henscey and wife Ann of Dayton, Rick Henscey and wife Mary of Dayton, Judy Baker and husband Ed of Katy, Peggy Henscey of Dayton, and Brenda Henscey of Dayton, brother: A. W. Henscey and wife Kay of Dayton, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church at 106 S. Cleveland, Dayton, TX 77535, or a charity of one’s choice in George’s name.
