George Crippens

November 16, 1932 — September 14, 2014

George William Crippens, 81, of Cleveland, left this earth peacefully next to his loving wife of 61 years, Celena, on Sunday, September 14th, 2014. George was born in Santa Anna, Texas, on November 16th, 1932 to Louis and Nannie Belle Constable Crippens. As a teen he joined the Air Force and was eventually stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was in Cheyenne that he met, courted and married Celena. They were married on March 31st, 1953. After being discharged from the service George began a career in the appliance repair business but later changed his career to carpentry. He became a general contractor and has overseen the building of dozens of homes all over the Cleveland/Conroe/Coldspring area. George was a man of integrity and compassion-firm but always fair. His greatest joy in life was his family. He taught them by principle and also by example. His faith in the Lord was a strength to many. He is survived by his wife Celena; his daughter Mary Stout and husband Kelly of Round Top, Texas; grandson William Fee of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Adam Fee and wife Lexi of West Jordan, Utah and granddaughter Robyn Brand and husband Chris of The Woodlands, Texas. He was also the proud great grandfather of two little boys-Travis Brand and Zekiel Fee. His sister Barbara Stripling and husband Weaver of Sheperd, Texas also survives George as does numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceeded in death by his parents as well as a grandson, Travis Fee; sisters Wilma McSmith, Geneva Mize, Joyce McCarty and Mary Beth Richey and brothers Leonard Crippens, Robert Crippens and Lloyd Crippens. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18th at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. A funeral service will then be held later that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Cemetery. Funeral services are in the care of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 303 E.
