George Cornelius Mize, age 75, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, at Cornerstone Hospital in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas. He was born April 21, 1939, in Livingston, Polk County, Texas, to parents, Oscar and Ruby May Jordan Mize, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Andy Reed; brothers, Lew Mize, Ray Mize, Jessie Mize, O. C. Mize and Johnnie Mize; sisters, Viola Anderson, Edith Sweeten and Ola West.Mr. Mize was a carpenter by trade and retired from the Cleveland ISD. Most important of all, George was a man who loved his Lord and Savior and raised his family and many grandchildren to do the same. He loved his wife of 47 years and will be missed not only by her and his family but many other cherished friends. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Younger Mize; daughters, Vickie Anaston and husband Butch and Angelia Baxley and husband Ray; sons, Eddy Mize, Ricky Mize and wife Tammy, Troy Reed and wife Regina; sister, Vivian Ross; grandchildren, Steven Mize, JD Mize, Andy Mize, Amanda Bryant, Amy Chiles, Ashley Anaston, Sonya Mize, Shelby Thomas, Gary Motter, April Schulz, Aaron Lofgreen, Tiffany Kelso, Tanya Reed, George Christopher Baxley, Casey Baxley, Cody Baxley and Kristi Smith; twenty-four great-grandchildren and numerous other cherished family members and friends.Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Salvation Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Fostoria Oaks Missionary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens with Bro. Melvin Holifield presiding over all services.
