Gene Addington, 61, of Dayton, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Linney Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Gene was born February 6, 1953 in Dayton, to parents; John Curtis and Alma Lee George Addington, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1972 and member of the Eastgate Church. Gene volunteered at his church in the sound booth, vacation bible school, and the kitchen. Coached his children in little league sports. He also enjoyed church activities, motorcycles, camping, and especially traveling to softball games with his grandchildren. Mr. Addington was preceded in death by his grandparents: Curtis and Lela Addington and Emzey and Linnie George, father: John Curtis Addington, mother: Alma Lee George Addington, brother: Lloyd Addington, and grandsons: Chase Aaron Siebert and John Aaron Addington. He is survived by his wife of 27 years: Fain Price Addington of Dayton, daughters: Jennifer Addington of Indiana, Jessica Addington and husband Rex Burton of Indiana, and Paige Hanes and husband Scott of Highlands, son: Chad Addington, Sr. and wife Belinda of Dayton, sister: Lela Kay Holley and husband Gary of Kenefick, brothers: Johnny Addington of Nacogdoches and George Addington and wife Linda of Dayton, grandchildren: Makenzie Aaron Ripkowski, Camden Scott Hanes, Chad Aaron Addington, Jr., William Rex Burton, and Ava Linnlea Burton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
