Garlon Coleman Turman, age 89, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was born July 7, 1924, in Malone, Texas, to parents, Floyd and Edna Johnson Turman. Mr. Turman was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving his country honorably, 1943 to 1946, during WWII. Mr. Turman was a Mason, a member of the V.F.W., and American Legion. He enjoyed motorcycles in his younger years, hunting, fishing, and dancing three nights a week for 46 years. He will be missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2014, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, with interment following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Edna Turman; daughters, Kathy Staples and Donna Clark; grandchild, Angela Clark; brothers, Ted, Orval, and Lloyd; sisters, Pearl and Doris. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turman, together 50 years, married 31 years; sons, Van Turman and wife Wanda; Danny Hodges, Sr.; daughters, Linda Foreman and husband, Cliff; Rhonda Kinder and husband, Robert; Lisa Joseph and husband, Pat; Rhonda Perry and husband, Anthony; Debbie Wells and husband Jim; sister, Betty Hand; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and friends.
