Gabriel Wittner, age 90, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Friday, February 08, 2013. He was born April -6, 1922 in Mobile, Alabama to parents John and Martha Wittner who preceded him in death along with his daughter Carolyn Barrett. Mr. Wittner was a distinguished Veteran of the United States Marine Corps; served from 1942 – 1945. He participated in defense of Tarawa Gilbert Islands and Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. He and his wife Margaret married in 1957 residing in Houston, Texas. He was an electrician by trade. In 1974 they relocated to Cleveland where they raised their family. He is a member of Southline Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and steadfast friend; he will be missed by those who loved him. Survivors include his loving wife of 55+ years Margaret Wittner; daughter Debbie Wittner; son Rickey Wittner and wife Kathie; grandchildren Joan Barrett, Katrina Lewis and husband Marshall; Michael Fowlkes and wife Heather, Krista LeBow and husband Casey; great-grandchildren Cari and Ricky Blake Lewis, Dillon and Dustin Fowlkes, Turner LeBow; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and faithful friends throughout the years. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 09, 2013, 3:30-6:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Paul Gothard will preside over funeral services being held Sunday, February 10, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Missionary Baptist Home for Children, “In Memory of Gabriel Wittnerâ€, c/o Southline Baptist Church, 1306 Southline, Cleveland, Texas 77327.
