Fred Chapman Raley

Born in the Heights area of Houston on March 4, 1927 to John Clifford and Katherine Elizabeth (Haley) Raley. Fred, a member of the Church of Christ in Crosby, Texas went to be with our Lord on March 7, 2017 peacefully at his home in Cleveland, Texas.

Fred is survived by his wife, Geneva, sister Jessie M. Boswell, daughter Donna and husband David Howse, son Fred and wife Cathy Raley, son Danny and wife Laura Raley, step-daughter Marilyn Reasoner and step-son Michael Lynch and wife Sue.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Michael and Jessica Raley, their daughters Kate and Emma, Carey Raley and Brandy Burnett, their son Lance, Lisa and Gary Dunn, their sons Hunter and Chase, Stephen Raley, Julie and Azad Rastegar, their daughter Gwyneth, Michelle Raley, and Brandy and Kyle Chrisman, their children, Corey Jr., Promise, Gauge, and Ryder.

Fred was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Marie Raley, parents, brothers John Clifford Jr., James Robert, Milton Carl, Roy Allen, sister Peggy Ann and grandson Jason Howse.

Fred, a devoted husband and a great father, instilled a strong work ethic in all of his children. In addition, he was a life long Marine at heart and spirit, he joined the Marines shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor departing for boot camp at 15 years of age. He saw combat in the Pacific for the duration of World War II ending his last tour of duty in China. He retired from Diamond Shamrock after 35 years only to be rehired to work as an inspection consultant, working until age 70.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, March 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas.
Services will be held on Monday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home followed by interment at Brookside Cemetery, Hwy 59 East.
