Frank Barnes, age 85 of Dayton, Texas, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born November 7, 1931 in Atlanta, Texas to parents George Henry Barnes and Dovie Pearl Lamon Barnes who preceded him in death along with his step-sons, Donald Lynn Herndon and Alvin Ray Herndon, Sr.; sisters, Georgia Mae Barnes Norris and Mary Viola Barnes Lutz; and great-grandchildren, Sevyn and Grace Herndon.
Mr. Barnes was in the Air Forces in Korea from 1951 – 1953. He was a police officer with the Freeport Police Department where he held the rank of Captain and later became Assistant Chief before retiring after twenty-one years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Barnes; daughter, Cheryl Barnes Thompson and husband James; son, Jimmy Lee Barnes and wife Paula; step-daughter, Patricia Lee Herndon; brother, Tommie Lee Barnes and wife Virginia; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
