Frances Ruth Smith

Frances Ruth Smith of Splendora, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Frances was born in Lavaca County, Texas on May 18, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents John Bennett and Lois Hadamek; her husband, Donald Smith; and brother, John Richard Bennett.

Frances loved her family dearly and always enjoyed family get togethers. She had many interests in life, some of which included cooking, singing, gardening, music, playing the organ, bingo, dominos, card games, and deer hunting. She loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church-Splendora where she played the organ for many years. Frances was also an avid sports fan, some of her favorite teams included the Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, and Houston Texans. She will be remembered for her charming smile and contagious laugh. Frances will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Frances is survived by sisters, Lois Elaine Henry, Debra Hennig, and Martha Pederson; daughters, Anna Boyett and husband Richard, Linda Willis and husband Larry, Carol Dishongh and husband Harold; sons, Jay Smith and wife Sissy, Donald Smith and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Jamie, Jana and husband John, Lindsay and Joel, Keith and wife Kelly, John and wife Chris, Rachel and husband Matt, Faith and husband Daniel, Jeremy and wife Amber, Kayla and husband Josh, Jake and wife Stefany, Cory, Carli, and Skyler along with numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at First Baptist Church, Splendora on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Her services will begin at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Sterling Edwards. Frances will be laid to rest next to her husband at Splendora City Cemetery immediately following her funeral. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Willis, John Willis, Jeremy Smith, John Buller, Matt Coleman, and Daniel Wyrick. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family whom she loved dearly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church-Splendora (25980 FM 2090, Splendora, Texas 77372).
