Frances Lorine Kelly went to be with her Lord, her Jesus, and her beloved parents, Fred and Florine Paskell in Humble, Texas on July 11, 2019. She died as a result of a stroke.
Frances was born in Cushing, Texas, Nacogdoches County, Texas on April 12, 1940, to Fred and Florine Paskell. She grew up in Vidor, Texas where she was active in the VHS Band as a majorette. She was active in school government, beauty and band contests and listed as an outstanding student.
After graduation from Vidor High School in 1957, she met and married Sgt. Mitchell Gibson of the Houston Police Department. She, herself, eventually joined the HPD as a member of their first class of women recruits. She graduated at the top of her class where she was active and instrumental in many new innovations in their burglary and theft department and achieved the rank of Sgt. Before she retired in 1995.
Frances and her husband, Homer Kelly, moved to Centerville where she and Homer were active members of the Centerville FBC for 10 years. In 2007, Frances and her son Mike Gibson moved to Dayton, Texas where they resided until her death in 2019.
Frances was an avid fisherwoman. She pursued that hobby relentlessly anytime and anywhere. She loved gardening and working in her yard. She also enjoyed dancing and music.
Frances had an endless love for life and cherished her family and friends dearly but most of all she loved her son, Michael Wayne Gibson and her dog, Schnauzer Fraulein.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Gibson of Dayton; sisters, Joyce Whitman and husband Larry of Dayton, Janie Evitts of Dayton; brother, Fred Paskell, Sr. and wife Sandra of Vidor; nieces and nephews, Stephen Evitts and wife Jesslyn, Marlon Collins and wife Vicki, Aaron Evitts and wife Katrina, Kimberly Dawn Rhodes, Harold Richard Harris, Sr. and wife Rhonda, Randy Harris, Debbie Harris, Regina Paskell Hand, Allen Paskell, Keith Paskell, Cara Paskell, “lil Fred”’ Paskell and Dallas Paskell.
Services for Mrs. Kelly will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas
