Floyell Cooley Simmons, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed into the hands of the Lord on February 11, 2016. Floyell was born in Ragley, LA and attended Ragley High School where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1947. She was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church. She toured briefly with the Roberts Gospel Quartet before marrying Elvin M. “Al” Simmons in 1951. She worked for many years at the accounting offices of Cox & Lord in Houston, before retiring to College Station, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Al, and is survived by her daughters Anita LaHouse and husband Tom of Houston, and Diane Fortner and husband Mark of San Diego, grandson Gregory Holiday of San Diego, grandson Christopher LaHouse of Houston, and granddaughter Erica LaHouse of Lubbock.
She is also survived by her brothers Dale Cooley and wife Janice of Woodville, TX, Wayne Cooley of Caballo, NM, Wendell Cooley and wife Judy of Hahnville, LA, and sister Barbara Freeman and husband William of Pearland, TX.
Visitation will be held at Pace-Stancil funeral home on Monday, February 15, 2016 in Cleveland, TX from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with graveside service following at Ryan Cemetery.
