Florence Tillman, 81, of Kingwood, Texas was granted her angel wings March 27, 2015. She was surrounded by family when she passed. Florence spent most of her life in Dayton, Texas, where she was born September 1, 1933 to parents, Harold Steve Matelski and Pearl Martha Seigle Matelski. A graduate of Dayton High School, she went on to operate an ARCO bulk fuel plant in Liberty, Texas, and retired from Houston Vacuum in 2010. Florence most recently resided at a senior living community in Kingwood. She had a profound love for flowers and animals of all kinds, but was most renown for her creative culinary skills where her Sunday dinners were often capable of feeding a small army. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday March 31, 2015 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Eastgate. Father Richard Zawadzki will officiate. Visitation will be Monday March 30, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Pearl Matelski. She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Laine and husband John, and Laurie Smesny and husband Frank, as well as many relatives and friends. Florence will be missed.
