Eugene Richard Dornak

Eugene Richard Dornak “Gene”, age 77 of Point Blank, Texas, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. He was born January 23, 1940 in El Campo, Texas to parents Richard and Mary Dornak who preceded him in death along with his son, Tommy Dornak, and sister, Rosalie Till.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Patsy Dornak of Point Blank; sons, Jeff Dornak and Shirley of Mont Belvieu, Craig and Mollie Dornak of Flint; daughter, Tammy and Kreg McCall of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren: Matthew Dornak, Daylan Dornak, Rhett McCall, Kade McCall, Haley Dornak, Gabriana Dornak, Carlie Dornak and Ryan Thomas Dornak; and his loyal dog, Murphy; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Gene graduated from El Campo High School in 1959. He then graduated from Texas A&M University, where he attended on a track scholarship. He earned his master’s degree from Texas Southern University in school administration. He was a coach, teacher, and administrator at Crosby ISD. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to their land, “the Ranch” in Ozona with his family. He loved to watch his grandchildren as they participated in sports and other school activities. He was one to “always keep in touch” with family….a simple phone call to check on everyone was almost a daily ritual.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2017 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Point Blank, Texas. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park, El Campo, Texas.
