Ermie Gilbert Everitt, age 95, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a long illness.
Mr. Everitt is survived by a wife of 69 years, Falvey Mae Cox Everitt.
Gilbert was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Army Air Force obtaining the rank corporal. He served his country with pride from 1942 to 1945. As a young child, he learned the value of a good work ethic working on the family farm. Upon returning home from the war he found work in the oil industry. He was known in the oil field as “Dog Everitt”, working 31 of his 40 year career with Butler Drilling Company.
After retirement Gilbert could be seen working around his home on a daily basis, he loved to hunt deer with dogs and always owned a good quarter horse.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen, Texas. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen, Texas.
